Travel Hockey
Competitive. Developmental. Team-first.
Our Ridgefield Lions Travel Hockey program is a tryout-based, competitive program that develops players’ skills, teamwork, and hockey IQ across all age levels. We field teams from 8U through 18U that compete throughout Connecticut and the Northeast.
What to Expect
- Season Length: August – March
- Practices: 2–3 weekday practices per week
- Games: Typically 2 per weekend (one home, one away), plus 2-3 tournaments or showcases throughout the season
- Home Rink: Winter Garden Ice Arena (Ridgefield, CT)
- Leagues: Connecticut Hockey Conference (CHC) and supplemental competition (EJEPL or similar)
Player Evaluations & Tryouts
Each spring, players are evaluated based on skill, effort, and sportsmanship. Our goal is to provide every athlete with an opportunity to develop in a competitive and positive environment.
Tryouts are run by independent evaluators and age-level coaches to ensure fairness and transparency.
Equipment & Uniforms
Players are responsible for their own gear and uniforms. Full sets (helmet, gloves, pads, etc.) are ordered prior to each season.
New game socks are included in your registration cost for all players each season.
Game jerseys must be purchased from the Pro Shop prior to each season if needed (approximately $250) and new orders will include a new practice jersey. Sizing days will be announced in the spring around tryouts.
Team Experience
Beyond the ice, RAHA’s travel program builds leadership, camaraderie, and community. Players represent Ridgefield proudly while forming friendships that last well beyond their youth hockey years.
